A Week of Stories, Play and Learning at the Glittery Summer School in Sântion

Between August 3 and 7, 2026, the Glittery Summer School programme took place at “Lónyay Tivadar” Secondary School in Sântion, part of the “Tamási Áron” Agro-Industrial Technological High School in Borș. It was a week in which reading, play and learning came together in an educational experience full of energy and creativity.

The activities were carried out with the involvement of primary school teachers Gagyi Annamária, Kriszte Beáta and Pék Enikő, who work with children in the preparatory grade, Grade 1 and Grade 2. Through their active involvement in organising and delivering the programme, they created a friendly, interactive learning environment adapted to the children’s educational needs.

At the heart of the activities was the book “Felhőcukrászda”, by Harczos Bálint. Its five chapters were explored over the course of the five days, with each day built around one chapter and the themes introduced by the story.

Each morning began in a cheerful atmosphere, with warm-up exercises set to music, followed by a read-aloud session. After each chapter, the children were invited to discuss what they had read, express their opinions and emotions, and share their own interpretations of the story and its characters.

Reading was only the starting point for a wide range of learning activities. Building on the text, the children took part in reading comprehension exercises, literacy activities, vocabulary-building tasks and activities designed to develop oral and written expression. These were complemented by educational games, hands-on activities and movement games, so that each day offered new ways to explore and learn.

An important feature of the programme was its interactive and engaging approach. The children were encouraged to participate actively, work together, express their ideas and find creative solutions. The activities created many opportunities for reading to become more than just a school exercise: it became an experience that stimulated curiosity, imagination and the desire to discover.

The children’s enthusiasm was visible throughout the programme. They took part in the activities with interest, collaborated within the group and actively engaged with the challenges proposed each day. The learning environment was safe, friendly and encouraging, giving every child the opportunity to participate, express themselves and learn alongside others.

The five days of the Glittery Summer School once again showed that reading can become the starting point for rich and diverse learning experiences. A good story can open up conversations, stimulate the imagination, enrich vocabulary and, most importantly, bring children together.

For one week in Sântion, the book became a space for connection, play and discovery, while reading was experienced not only as a learning activity, but also as something enjoyable and memorable.
